Handcrafted parts from solid perspex and steel wire for fine detail
... BEL-AIR MODELS are durable collector items. Years of experience
in crisp detailing and fine airbrush techniques, not in the least
the distinct clear windows, make them stand out in every collection.
The production of a model
The modeling process starts at the drawing board. A side, top and
front view is drawn in scale 1:36 to provide best accuracy for the
eventual smaller scale of the model.
Side and top view coordinates of the fuselage are entered into a
computer-controlled milling machine and a first square form is cut
in a block of perspex. Likewise the exact dihedral and wing plan
form is cut. Tailplanes and further small parts are sawn by hand.
From these basic square forms the actual modeling starts. Each part
is filed and sanded to its final correct shape. This needs to be
done with care and ultimate accuracy; any correction by use of putty
is out of the question because of the clear windows.
After adding surface detail and polishing window areas to full transparency,
the fuselage, wing(s) and tailplanes are assembled.
Now the model is ready for airbrushing. Masks for the windows are
cut out and put in place; then the model is put on a stand to receive
a first layer of primer. After a night of drying the color scheme
is applied by a three-stage transparent airbrush technique.
The model is completed with remaining details such as wing struts,
landing gear and antennas. Decals are carefully put in place and
the model receives a final gloss coating.
After a final check the masks are removed to unveal the see-through
windows; a very satisfying last job.

is polished to transparancy, as are the wing fronts for the landing
lights. The engine bays are casted to ensure perfect symmetry.
Each model is put on a BEL-AIR MODELS Swivel Stand©
with a moveable rod to position the model to your liking. The base
of the stand contains a plate naming type, serial number of the
model and date of manufacture.
Model and stand are accompanied with an Owner's Certificate
specifying the model's exclusive data, signed by the manufacturer
mr. Bob Dros.
Shipping
Much care is spent to the packaging of your order and it is shipped
with insurance.
